KS: Parents outraged after sex offender allowed at Kansas school dance

Source: torontosun.com 2/21/25

Parents in Kansas were outraged to learn a registered sex offender was allowed to attend a school dance, and even take photos and video of the children.

The Sole Mate Dance for students in Grades 1 through 6 was held at Blue River Elementary School in Overland Park, Kansas, where the unidentified man made his way to the edge of the dance floor, pointing his cellphone’s camera in the direction of students, parents told the Johnson County Post.

They told the media outlet that they recognized the man, who pleaded guilty in 2011 to having and sharing child pornography and went to jail before getting supervised release.

But Blevins said the sex offender had received permission to be at the school function due to his “functioning parental relationship” with a student or students at the event, and a Blue Valley School District spokesperson added that no laws were violated.

Parents were shocked, arguing that the convict should be nowhere near children.

So they are worried about the person taking pics of Clothed children dancing. Well then, simply ask if he would consent to the school viewing the photos for content. If the parents want their children omitted from said photos or vids, then request he do that. The guy would likely consent to it. See folks? Not that hard. But no, instead you make the assumption without merit that he is going to somehow photo shop the children nude or something. Ridiculous and another case of over reaction. Proving once again that having children makes many people stupid.

Oh my God! He pointed his camera toward the children on the dance floor. Anyways, my main question: Why is this story in the Toronto Sun? What do Canadians care about what happens in Kansas. Canada doesn’t even make public the names of people on the registry. It’s like this story is a wet dream for Canadians who want their registry to be the same as the good ole USA ✌️

What about the people who might have taken pictures of the children dancing that may have disgusting motives? The guy committed a crime back in 2011 and if the school considered him a threat he wouldn’t have had permission. Kansas should be more concerned with TB than a PFR.

They are disgusted a father (pfr) is there for his child, and in the same breath will pity a child that doesn’t have a father there for support! This guy is there for HIS child. No other child.

I’m more shocked and worried about kids being groomed sexually by their elementary school. “Sole Mate” School dance for first graders? What are they thinking?

In our day, dances were high school functions ONLY.

Sorry for the length, but… infotainment takes volume if it’s going to work? So, so many shameless uses of classic propaganda techniques being displayed here. Now I must try to entice people to read…

Shameless clickbait article needlessly creates fear and outrage at uneventful school dance!

You already know that nothing of note actually happened before you even click the story. If this guy actually…. did…. ANYTHING…. you wouldn’t need this click bait ¢rap to know know about it.

“…the unidentified man…”
If he’s so “Unidentified” how do you know he was there? Also, why is this “News Article” wasting time on the nothing this guy did, and not on the actual problem, the “News Article” suggests is true? Perhaps the shameless clickbait headline should have been:

Unidentified Men allowed to roam freely through School dances! Nobody knows who they are or why they’re there!”

Also…

“…pointing his cellphone’s camera...”
Yes indeed, terrifying! Most people just use their cellphone camera to take pictures.. but “God only knows what this guy was doing!”… is the idea the “News article” was going for?

So perhaps:
Unidentified Men allowed to wander around school dances using their smart phone cameras in mysterious ways!”

Then there is this:
“…went to jail before getting supervised release.”

So perhaps there is an even better shameless clickbait?

Unidentified men wandering around school dances expose the total failure of State Justice system!”
“Sending people to jail does nothing! They just get let out, then creep around school dances using their phones in menacing ways!”

Perhaps that “News Article” would have been a more successful shameless bit of clickbait?

Then there is this:
“…“functioning parental relationship”....”

Does the “Journalist” find it surprising that people can have functioning parental relationships? I wonder if their children would surprised to know this?

Also…

Pseudo Journalism takes advantage of using quotation marks as a way of suggesting
illegitimacy!

Everybody knows that when a “News article” uses quotation marks like this, it is intended to imply illegitimacy. That way the hack that wrote it can inject opinion disguised as “Legitimate Journalism”. Same way hack TV “Journalism” uses anonymous, unverifiable quotes….

Everybody’s taking about how the Journalistic Standards at the Toronto Sun have completely vanished! Stay tuned to hear more about how this once respected News agency is now just a shameless click bait fear mongering rag!”

It’s nothing but meaningless sensationalism used to scare people into reading their garbage! – says one long time reader!

This is especially effective when you can make people feel guilty for disagreeing…

“They just manipulate your fears to get you to click the story!” – Says one single Mother of 3 disabled children we found at a homeless shelter for families fleeing from abusive relationships.”

How do these Hacks get away with it? Here’s my attempt to get you to keep reading…

“Oh course I would never admit to it, but yeah I spend a couple hours a day going through sensationalist click bait stories that pop up on my news feed. I know they are total horse$hit before I even click on them, but they are way too tempting to ignore, and they’re free! So why not? Just a little guilty pleasure I indulge in secretly. I don’t want people to think I’m gullible enough to believe any of this garbage!” – Says one frequent poster to the ACSOL Forum.

Oh it also sometimes gives me information I can use to feel superior to my neighbors. Like when that Peter, Paul and Mary guy died. Only one in my building to know that happened, or even who he was! That’s why sometimes it’s all about
ticking away the moments that make up a dull day reading these stories, and hoping I can find a way to sneak song lyrics into normal conversation!” – He later added.

That’s how they get away with it… and how certain, gullible people are helping to make it happen? Perhaps some “Journalists” should have been left working as a waitress in a cocktail bar?

I hope you were info-tained. 😁

They don’t want us to own cameras, drones or telescopes. Anything that can be used to “spy” on their precious little angels sends them into a tailspin.

These people are beyond brainwashed. They’re insane.

Is he still on paper, other than being a PFR? If he’s not, then too bad! He was there for his daughter. He’s lucky, I missed being able to see my daughters grow up.

I don’t think it was a good idea given the situation to video other children. If he took a picture of just his daughter, not an issue. Just saying, when everyone knows your business, any behavior is suspect. Now, what is the school going to do? Probably overreact and add restrictions.

These “concerned” parents are the same types that are offended by pronouns, and having to press “1” for English. Prove me wrong.

I wonder if those ” sole mate” dancers would be forced to register if they held hands, kissed, or played doctor in Kansas.

my uncle was a photographer and he was involed in art school, as a hobby and he decided to do a shoot at a little leauge baseball event for his class roject. the parents of the event come up to him and ask him what he was doing there and he lives in that commuity what a joke
